Arizona Christian University is excited to announce its first President’s Scholar for the 2016 incoming freshmen class! Jayci Kelley, a senior at Foothill High School in Redding, California, was awarded one of ACU’s four prestigious full-tuition scholarships. Not only does Jayci come to ACU with strong academics, outside the classroom she has played on Foothill’s varsity tennis team for three years, has been an active member of the math and science clubs, and participates in her school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Jayci is also involved in her church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and going on several overseas and domestic missions trips.
The President’s Scholarship is Arizona Christian University’s top scholarship, and eligible freshmen must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.85, and an ACT composite score of 30 or an SAT combined math and verbal score of 1340. Students must have a history of service, leadership, and character development, and be individuals who demonstrate alignment with ACU’s vision to transform culture with truth. A formal interview with ACU President Len Munsil is required.
Jayci will be studying Elementary Education while at ACU, and she eventually hopes to be either a teacher or serve overseas in missions. Jayci explained why she chose Arizona Christian University stating, “I wanted a school that had a focus on God and was a place where I could continue to grow in my faith.” Jayci looks forward to making new friends at ACU and playing on the tennis team while pursuing her education.
Pete Hamstra, ACU’s Vice President of Enrollment shared, “Jayci is exactly the kind of student we want to see at Arizona Christian University. She exemplifies what ACU is all about – strong academics, service, and a commitment to spiritual growth.” Dylan Waugh, Jayci’s admissions counselor, added, “We can’t wait to have Jayci at Arizona Christian University! She has worked hard and should be very proud of this accomplishment.”
